The Royal British Legion Club in Enfield has been a Legion Club since the 70’s. Before then it was an active Fire Station. Members of staff at the
club have made a few reports regarding certain areas of the building. Uneasy feelings, shadows, breaking glasses and moving doors are amongst
these reports. The staff also reported that it was possible that there had been three deaths on the premises. The first may have occurred back
when the building was still being used as a Fire Station. It was believed that once during a party in the upstairs staff quarters a woman
drunkenly stumbled and fell head first down the pole opening and died from the fall. The second was believed to be that of a Fireman who was
crushed to death by a tender. The final one was that of a Steward or former Barman who died of natural causes in the bar cellar on the ground
floor.

This was the first investigation for ISP in 2009 and the team were now joined by medium Marc Richardson to help add a more spiritual element
to the night. After setting up the remote CCTV cameras we embarked upon our first vigil in the loft area where Jim, Marc and I headed over
to the far corner where Marc had suggested that he felt an energy of some kind forming. He believed that this was not a spirit person but more
resembled simply "energy" of some kind. Jim tracked the suggested location of this energy with Marc's guidance and an IR thermometer which
appeared to show some minimal temperature fluctuations however nothing of significance.
After a brief recess in the bar area speaking to the staff of the social club we split into two groups and my team made our way back to the
meeting hall upstairs. This was the base camp area for the night, and led to a few adjacent areas including some stock rooms, a narrow bar,
some corridors and a kitchen where earlier Liz had suggested seeing the door opening apparently by itself. Now this door was a two-way swing door
and therefore was feely able to move with the assistance of any draughts or air movement in this part of the building. For this reason I chose
to discount any such movements as paranormal. We did decide to lock of a digital voice activated sound recorder in the kitchen in the hope
that this would pick up some activity, however the only recordings were either of the cars along the road outside or of the occasional reveller
in the streets below. There were occasional tapping and clicking sounds, however the night was extremely windy and the kitchen was fitted with
an external air ventilation grill which was most likely the cause. As the vigil drew to an end all had remained quiet and uneventful. Myself, Ash
and Marc were stood in the centre of the room while Ian and Jim were on the stage and at this point Jim exclaimed that he had heard a lady's
voice in the room. We enquired as to whether Marc's wife Mel has called out to which she replied that she had remained silent. Neither Marc, Ash
or I had heard anything ourselves, although we were deep in conversation. Luckily for us Ian had left his camcorder running on a nearby table
so we played back the previous few minutes footage to see if we had recorded the noise they had heard. After tracking down that section of the
recording Jim instantly recognized the point where indeed it appeared that the sound of some light footsteps (possibly clicks from the tape)
was then followed by what could only be described as a woman's voice. Click
here to listen to the footage and decide for yourself.
The final vigil of the night took place in the Ground Floor bar area where apart from the occasional flash of light and add noise there was
very little of significance to report. The investigation had come to an end, and although the majority of the night had been very quiet
and uneventful we had for the first time in a while captured some really intriguing evidence. What remains to be seen is if that supposed voice
caught on the camera upstairs remains a mystery and whether we can identify a more logical explanation once it had been thoroughly analysed.
