The George & Dragon Hotel
WEST WYCOMBE, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE

Through a cobbled archway on West Wycombe High Street, you come to the entrance of a coaching inn built in the early 18th Century. The Inn lies in one of the strangest villages in the country, remaining steeped in legend and myths concerning witchcraft, devil worship and sacrifice. Generations of traders, travellers, lovers and visitors have left traces of their presence on the building and its atmosphere, not least of whom is Sukie, the beautiful social climber whose ghost is said to haunt the building. Legend has it that she had gone to meet her lover in the nearby legendary Hellfire Caves, dressed in a white wedding dress, but in a cruel practical joke she found a group of local lads there instead, and was stoned to death. Her ghost is said to haunt the caves as well as the George and Dragon Hotel. Other paranormal occurrences in the Inn have included phantom footsteps, while poltergeist activity has also been recorded.
