Olde Church House Inn
NEAR NEWTON ABBOTT, DEVON
The Old Church House Inn in Devon dates from 13th century, but the oldest part of the building is the fire place which dates back to the 8th or 9th century.
It is believed that an underground tunnel runs from the inn to a nearby church while the building is also connected with the late Arthur Conan Doyle, author
of the famous Sherlock Holmes mysteries. Paranormal experiences have included that of a man seen looking down into the baby's crib in the family
bedroom, while on one occasion the owner woke to find a lady in a bonnet who put a finger to her lips and slowly vanished. In the main bar candles have been
known to relight themselves while a spotlight has also been witnessed turning itself on and off. The imprint of two faces has been seen in the 'Armada' wall,
as though pressed up against the wood, and they are believed to be the captain and first officer of the ship. In the lounge, a figure has been seen descending
a set of stairs that were taken out years ago while in Room 1 an apparition of an arm has been seen at the end of the bed pointing towards the wall
as well as a bald headed man who was seen walking past the bed and disappearing.
