Haunted Burton Weekend
BURTON-ON-TRENT, STAFFORDSHIRE Friday 26th - Sunday 28th August 2005 |
|
|
| Location Background | ||
Day 1: The Constitutional Club - The land that this building stands on 400 hundred years ago was alms houses and in more recent times in the 19th
Century it was the towns post office. In 1905 it became the Constitutional Club refurbished by Baron Burton and other wealthy brewers to its splendour of
today. A building that you literally walk back 100 years in time with all the original Victorian features you could be on a set of a hammer house of horror. This
building has had paranormal activity of its own over the years, where items left in locked rooms have disappeared and reappeared with no logical reason for
this to happen. Some club members have been wary to go up the staircase due to sightings of a grey figure lurking in the darkness. The area that the grey
figure has been seen is in a very dark and dank corridor which has two rooms off it, while the temperature in the room where the spirit is seen is much
colder than the room next door for no logical reason. |

| Investigation Report | ||
Day one of our first weekend event took us to the impressive Victorian abode of Burton's wealthy brewers. Our walk around with medium Rudi Unt revealed a chequered past, with verified information about a suicide in a foreboding 2nd floor flat, the spirit of an American soldier which lingers along a first floor corridor and a plethora of residual energies from all the strong characters that had played their part in the history of this incredible building. There was indeed an overpowering atmosphere to this location, an expectations were high for the night vigils ahead. We had set up a number of experiments throughout the building, including a locked off Camcorder and motion sensitive Stealth Cam in the top floor flat and corridor, as well as Victorian coins as trigger objects in the card room and cellar. Although we experienced no movement with the coins, the camcorder in the flat did pick up a number of interesting light anomalies View Here View Here. I began by taking my first team to investigate the cellars, which date back to the original alms houses of the 17th century. Our first activity surrounded an experiment where I asked the team to attempt to link in with the first name of any spirit energy that they felt may have been present, and I was intrigued that 3 of the group suggested they connected with the name John (this was also picked up by one of the other groups). When asking questions the rods appeared to move inwards and outwards as signs of yes and no, although no other phenomena occurred to suggest we had really made any contact. We did however get a few knocking noises coming from another room along with another light anomaly View Here. The vigil ended with an interesting experience, as while securing the room for the next group I heard glasses clinking together from this same room while walking up the stairs. There was a crate balanced on a box full of glasses, and it could simply be that his had been disturbed by our group. Our second vigil took place in the bar area, where we attempted some glass divination with very inconclusive results. The glass moved occasionally, but no genuinely unexplained phenomena took place. For my third vigil I spent a hour alone in the lavatories where strange knocking sounds had been heard before. Unfortunately for me all remained quite and peaceful. Our final vigil took place in the foreboding flat on the top floor, where the entire group felt a certain unease. One member did connect with a suicide in the room, without prior knowledge of the history, while two of the team members swore that they had seen a shadow out of the corner the eye passing by the open door. By this time the daylight was drawing in and we were all looking forward to a good sleep before a busy 2nd day. |
