The Station Hotel
DUDLEY, WEST MIDLANDS Series 2 Episode 3 First Aired: April 22nd 2003 |
|
| Location Background | |
The Station Hotel is based in the heart of the West Midlands town of Dudley. Originally built in 1910, the building was demolished in 1936 in order to build a larger Hotel. Once situated directly opposite the Hippodrome Theatre, the hotel attracted many famous guests over the years including Laurel and Hardy, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and George Formby. Over the years the building has struck panic into guests, having them running from their rooms in fear. The cellars are allegedly haunted by the spirit of a murdered chambermaid, who it is said met an untimely death at the hands of the landlord, who was later hanged for the murder. There have been many reported paranomal sightings, most frequently that of an unfortunate woman seen wandering along the halls and in some of the bedrooms, namely 214 and 217. Beer Barrels have been known to move on their own in the cellar, while knives have been mysterisouly thrown by unseen hands in the restaurant. |

| Brief Episode Synopsis | |
The investigation begins with Derek’s walk-around in the basement. He picks up initially on a murder, together with the names of a number of possible energies. Returning to the restaurant Derek refers to a chambermaid who he believed had an affair with the landlord, and who was murdered by him for fear that she would reveal their secret liaison. As the night vigils begin Yvette decides that the groups should split into males and females, with the ladies staying in room 217 and the men returning to the cellar. Within the bedroom the ladies apparently saw a strange light coming from the corner of the room, while Yvette felt a burning sensation in her legs. The girls then suggest that they feel the bed moving, while a another strange light is caught on camera by a chest of drawers. It is not until shortly after that Cath notices 3 small unknown scratches on her face. Nothing more of any significance occurred during the vigils, however when replaying the tapes from the locked off camera in one of the bedrooms it is apparent that both the bed and an armchair are seen moving of their own accord over a 6 minute period, providing some of the most compelling evidience of poltergeist activity on the show to date. |
