The Clock House  SURREY
Series 2 Episode 9
First Aired: June 3rd 2003
Location Background

The Clock House, a beautiful 12th century manor, sets the scene for Part One of Most Haunted's "Ruth Ellis" ghost mystery. This very large privately owned house, built across Medieval, Georgian and Victorian periods, is said to play host to strange noises, doors opening and closing, dark figures in corridors and a room that seems to harbour a number of spiritual entities including that of 1950s socialite Ruth Ellis. Rennovation works over the years have reputedly stirred up activity on the site, and a strange misty apparition has also been caught on camera. Property owner Fred Batt, who also features in the second part of the mystery, is the owner of the famous Caesars Nightclub in London, which is also said to be haunted by Ruth Ellis.

Brief Episode Synopsis

The investigation begins with Derek connecting with a spirit believed to be from the realm of the 12th Century Knights Templar, as well as two religious entities believed to be monks. Derek then reveals a strange connection between Fred Batt, the owner, and references to the Knights Templar for he feels that Fred had fondness for the building in a former life, in which he too was a Templar Knight. Derek believes his re-incarnation drawn him to the location, and Fred agrees that he did feel a strange draw to the property when he purchased it while he does have lineage that connects with the Knights Templar as Derek makes reference to a Baron from the 13th Century which was actually a direct descendent. During the vigils the team reside in the lounge area where the photograph of the apparition had been taken, and all is quite and sleepy. Later on Karl and Derek appear to witness brief footsteps, while Yvette explores the upper floors and experiences some brief temperature changes. At that point the motion detectors are triggered and camera batteries drain, however nothing significant is caught on camera. As the investigation draws to an end Derek refers to a woman with blonde hair standing close to Fred and who goes by the name of Ruth. Fred reveals that he is also the owner of Caesars Nightclub where the apparition of Ruth Ellis has apparently been seen on many occasions. Ruth, convicted for murder, worked in Caesars and was famous for being the last person to be hanged in Britain.
