Kinnitty Castle was a former ancient castle now serving as a luxury hotel. The first Castle at Kinnitty was destroyed in 1209 and was later rebuilt by the Normans in 1213. After rebuilding the castle, the Normans were driven out by the powerful Gaelic clan, the O'Carrolls of Ely. In 1630, William O'Carroll built a new Castle in close proximity to the old Abbey. This was confiscated in 1641 by the English forces as part of the "Kings County". In 1922, as with many stately homes in Ireland, the Castle was burned down by Republican forces. The Castle was rebuilt in 1928 and the Bernard family lived there until 1946 when it was sold to Lord Decies who in turn sold the Castle to The State in 1951. It was later purchased by the Ryan family in 1994 and has since been transformed. In the Banquet Hall there is a huge spirit presence of a monk, very tall and is always in black. He is apparently able to foresee the future, passing his messages through members of staff. Everything that he predicts allegedly comes true. The Geraldine Bedroom is where many people have told of feeling the presence of a spirit of a child, who is often heard whimpering.

The investigation began with Derek's walkaround where he picked up on a hooded Monk, who he believed to be grounded. His impressions were that the monk moved thick and fast throughout the castle, and he felt he had a humourous nature. The night-time vigils began with Karl and Ciarán where they appeared to interact with something, receiving knocking sounds in response to their questions. Encouraged by this Karl embarked upon a solo vigil in The Geraldine Bedroom. He had not been there long when his camera battery, which had been fully charged, began to falsh indicating that it was almost dead. At that moment he started to feel a presence in the room, as a few noises of movement were picked up and he captured a bright orb on camera. With this he made the decision to head downstairs to fetch a new battery however once in the corridor he felt what he described as a hand brush across his face, which sent him into a sharp retreat. In true Most Haunted fashion he retrurned to the corridor where the atmosphere was thick with activity, capturing creaking noises as if someone was walking on the wooden floors as well as some further light anomoloies and a dark shadow at one point. Looking to joint in the act, Richard Felix took Derek with him on a vigil in the Gymnasium which used to be part of the old Abbey. Initally a strange knock was heard from the window at which point Derek suggested he saw a shape move across from outside. Footage showed some kind of shape at the window, but nothing conclusive. During their time in the Gym they made regular contact with some form of entity as they recieved regular answers in the form of banging to each and every question. Richard returned later with two other members of the team, and got the same responses. The investigation conculded with a table-tipping experiment, where the table appeared to rock very slightly.
