Oldham Coliseum was originally built in 1885 as a home the for JW Myers Grand American Circus. Myers however was unable to pay the bill ,and builder Thomas Whittaker became the owner. In 1887 it moved to its current location on the site of an old colliery, and in 1932 it was closed down during the recession. It was re-opened in 1939 by The Oldham Playgoers who renamed it The Coliseum. During a production of 'Macbeth' in 1947 actor Harold Norman was accidentally stabbed during a fight scene, dying some weeks later. Harold's ghost is reputedly said to haunt the Circle area, sitting and watching performances. In 1973 Carl Paulsen, who had worked at the theatre for 14 years, died aged 47, and an apparition of a man resembling him has been spotted in the wardrobe department.

The investigation began with Derek on the stage, picking up on a circus, the energies of a boy and a girl and most significantly the activity of a man named Harold Norman. He felt he had died in a tragic incident on stage with a sword during a performance of Macbeth, however he also revealed that Norman did not believe it was an accident. He also suggested that this spirit would be responsible for poltergeist activity within the theatre. Moving into the wardrobe department Derek sensed the energies of a negative spirit who he felt would not have belonged to the theatre, but to a previous period. The vigils began with Yvette, Alex, Cath and Ciarán in the wardrobe area, where apart from a strange burning smell, all was quiet. Meanwhile Richard sat alone in the theatre, picking up a single anomalous noise. Karl and Stuart then decided to sit it out alone in the Circle area, and appeared to capture the sound of a seat coming down of its own accord, while footage only minutes earlier showed it upright. A number of orbs also appeared in quick succession as well as another loud noise. Yvette, Cath and Ciarán then made their way under the stage, and upon Yvette asking for a sign if something wanted them to leave, a portable generator started up on its own, creating mass panic. It was confirmed that the generator is not programmed to come on at this time. The team then attempted table tipping, and apart from Ian Lawman apparently becoming possessed by a small boy named Tim, little occurred. Finally Stuart ventured beneath the stage for a solo vigil, and only lasted 4 minutes. On separate occasions when asking out for a sign a strange jangling sound was clearly heard, and after a number of other strange sounds and movements he made a rapid exit.
