Situated near the heart of the attractive town of Sandbach, the strikingly timbered Old Hall Hotel is a near perfect example of genuine Elizabethan architecture. The present building occupies the site of an ancient mansion of the Sandbaches, who were once Lords of the Manor. Much of the original is preserved today including Jacobean fireplaces in the lounge, where there is also a disguised door which was once a priest hole. The hotel dates back to 1656 but has been built over older buildings that date back as far as the 1400's. Room 2 and Room 11 are the most haunted bedrooms, with a man called Matthew haunting Room 2 who apparently hung himself because he was told he was sexually inadequate. Room 11 is regarded as the most haunted room, occupied by an old lady who died there of a heart attack. Guests who have stayed have often reported waking in the middle of the night thinking that the bed is on fire, which may relate to the history of the previous building that once burnt down. One guest has also reported that when taking a bath, it seemed that something or someone was trying to drown her.

The episode began in the Lounge where Derek, joined by celebrity Gabby Roslin, identified a hidden priesthole and picked up on the spirits of two monks. Moving to the Dining Room he sensed the name Sir John Radclyffe who he felt had a connection to the building, while he also felt that two women had been slaughtered there in 1442. Moving upstairs Derek sensed a foreboding presence from the Attic prior to entering Room 11. In the bedroom he felt activity had occured in the bathroom, while he also sensed a large cat (also picked up by David Wells earlier), believing it to belong to a old woman who had died there of natural causes. He also picked up on a fire that had occurred there many years previous. Returning downstairs to the kitchen he sensed much poltergeist activity connected with the spirits of Scottish soldiers who had died nearby in a bloody battle many years ago (verified). In Room 2 Derek connected with a man called Matthew who he felt had hung himself after being tormented and ridiculed about his sexuality. Moving up to the Attic Derek sensed a secretive, angry male who had been a serial rapist and murderer. A former Lord, Derek felt he prayed on servent girls, and on one occasion murdered a young maid in the cellar. While in the cellar the team identifed a wall with a chamber behind where Derek felt the girl's remains would be found. At this point a loud unexplained thud is heard coming from above. During the vigils Stuart undertook a lone investigation of the cellar, where after seeing a shadow he decided to leave after just 10 minutes. Meanwhile in Room 11 Derek saw a woman surrounded by bees, at which point flickering orbs are seen in the exact area, while the crew began to feel icy cold. The investigation culminated with strange poltergeist activity after Richard retired to his bedroom only to find two of his books balancing on top of each other upon the window sill.
