| Location Background | |
The ship was commissioned by Cunard Steamship Company Ltd and was launched on September 26 1934 by Queen Mary, making its maiden voyage on May 27 1936. Originally a luxury transatlantic ocean liner it made its final peacetime voyage carrying her largest number of passengers to date: 2,552, including Bob Hope and $44 million in gold bullion. It also served as a troop ship in World War 2 carrying a total of 765,429 military personnel with up to 15,000 troops at a time. The ship also carried the wounded returning to the US and transported Winston Churchill 3 times. She retired from regular passenger service on 19th September 1967 after completing 1,001 crossings of the Atlantic and arrived in Long Beach December 9th 1967, where it is now permanently dry docked at Pier J as a hotel, museum, restaurant and rental place for special events. Paranormal activity on the ship has been well documented, with many sightings of apparitions including Senior 2nd Officer William Stark and 2 women who are said to have been drowned in the pool. In the Queen's Salon, a beautiful woman in a flowing white dress is often seen dancing alone, while most areas of the ship appear to have at one time experienced poltergeist activity, disembodied voices and strange rapping sounds. |

| Brief Episode Synopsis | |
Part 1 of this historic 3 week investigation began as usual with Derek and David's walk around. Most interest centred on cabin B340, a room reputedly so active that it has remained empty for years. Both mediums connected with a tragic incident involving a deranged male and a female, who it is suggested would have been badly beaten or even murdered in the room. David believes the victim to be a young girl, 4 or 5 years old, while Derek suggests that the male energy would have died in the room after being incarcerated there. The first significant footage is shown of Richard Felix, who chose to spend a night in cabin B340 with Cairan's laptop recording the footage. In the early hours of the morning Richard is woken by a number of loud bangs and raps, while as he was sleeping the footage clearly picks up movement within the room. Of most interest is an apparent EVP which appears to sound like the faint voice of a young girl, with the suggestion made that the voice is saying 'mummy' although this is by no means conclusive. Unfortunately this potentially remarkable footage is let down by the limited scope of the footage, as it is unable to discount the movement of an actual person in the room. Multiple locked off cameras would have been able to verify that indeed Richard was alone while this activity takes place. Yvette, Rachel and Cath undertake another vigil in the cabin, with occasional noises and the walkie-talkie appearing to randomly discharge loud static for no apparent reason. This phenomena was also experienced in an earlier vigil in The Queens Salon, where Cath and Rachel are joined by Stuart. Here the team also experience a number of loud bangs, like heavy footsteps, while Stuart suggests he sees a red light near the fireplace. The final vigil sees Karl, Stuart and Jon return to cabin B340 where almost immediately the team experience strange noises and feelings of extreme discomfort. Stuart captures a bright light anomaly, while Karl suggests he is affected by a tightening sensation around his chest, forcing him to leave the room. An attempt at glass divination is also interrupted before it begins as the table appears to jolt on its own, while the vigil concludes with Jon appearing to pass out on the bed for no apparent reason. |
