| Location Background | |
The original portion of the house was built in 1844 on the site of Calabasas, which was once inhabited by the Gabrielino Indians. Miguel Leonis extensively enlarged and remodeled it in 1880. Leonis is a legendary historical figure in Californian history. He was one of the early land settlers and pioneers of Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. He married an Indian widow, Espiritu Chijulla, and he often treated her poorly and wouldn't even let her son Juan into the house. In 1889 Leonis was killed when his wagon overturned in Cahuenga Pass and the coroner's inquest determined that he died of Peritonitis three days after the accident. At the time of his death his estate was valued at $300,000 but he left only a tiny amount to Espiritu. In his will he referred to her as a housekeeper and that she wasn't entitled to his inheritance. She went to court and eventually won her claim of one half of the estate, living in the Adobe until she died in 1909. Since 1931 the Adobe has acted as a restaurant, a retirement home and then fell into a state of disrepair. In 963 Mrs Catherine S. Beachy bought the adobe and began the renovations, and in 1975 the house was entered on the National Register of Historical Places. Unexplained noises are heard throughout the building while the sounds of footsteps are heard on the upper floor and the staircase. A figure has been seen at the top of the stairs and a male figure resembling Miguel Leonis has been seen at the front door of the house. In the room that used to belong to Espiritu, an apparition of a woman has been seen standing by the chest with her clothes in. Odd identations appear in the bed and this spirit takes a strong dislike to men visiting the room. |

| Brief Episode Synopsis | |
Derek's walk around starts in the Living Room where he suggests a connection with a young man who had been hung for stealing a horse. Moving upstairs to the 1st floor Derek senses the energies of a female spirit whose impression became clearer upon entering Espiritu’s Bedroom where he visualised her with a leg impediment. During David Wells initial walk around he linked in with a Spanish male energy called Miguel in the Living Room who he felt would have owned Leonis Adobe. Within Espiritu’s Bedroom he also sensed a female energy, at which point some unusual interference was recorded from one of the microphones. David elaborated that Miguel and this woman were connected. As the night vigils began the team undertook a séance in the Living Room, where Yvette sensed something touch her leg and Cath suggested something touching her backside. Meanwhile in Espiritu’s Bedroom Stuart believed that he had seen two red lights from outside, however nothing was captured on camera. Moving on to the Bunk House David attempted to connect with the two young children, and apart from a single light anomaly nothing of any significance occurred. Stuart had then decided to undertake a solo vigil in the Barn, where he did suggest that he could hear footsteps but again nothing conclusive. The investigation concluded in Espiritu’s Bedroom where Yvette, Karl and Cath attempted an experiment with a mannequin wearing one of Espiritu’s dresses, and although suggestions were made that there was some movement of the garment again little conclusive evidence was captured. |
