There has been a settlement on the site since the Norman Conquest in 1066, and a manor house in the area from 1236, but the exact date the existing hall was built is uncertain. Some beams in the Hall are thought to come from an earlier building, dating from the medieval period. The Great Hall was built in 1995, a replica of the original hall which was demolished in 1853. Paranormal activity includes a mischievious spirit which appears to wander around the house, moving items and then returning them. Staff are scared to enter the Banqueting Hall as the spirit of a priest has been seen there, while in the Library the presence of a male apparition has been felt and items go missing. In the Bar area clocks won't work and a cavalier has been seen, while in the entrance-way a man has been seen on the settee, and the spirits of children are witnessed going out of the door into the back corridor. In the Main bedroom it is believed that the spirit of a woman enters the rooms, walks around and then vanishes.

The walk around began with David on the ground floor where he sensed a dark energy who would appear in shadow form and a group of Catholic monks. Drawn to a door he sensed a monk would have been tied here and used by soldier for bayonet practice. Upstairs he connected with the name Marie who he felt would sit at the window, as well as a blocked off window in one room which Richard confirmed had once been there. David also linked in with the name Fitzherbert, which he felt had important connections with the Hall, and again this was verified. Gordon began his walk around in the Library where he too sensed monks as well as a female energy, who he also connected with upstairs. Gordon then moved onto the Lounge where he sensed burning smell, while in Room 10 he believed that the house as it stood was different to the original situation - in some way 'back to front' Richard confirmed that both the fire and the Gordon's beliefs about the situation of the building were indeed correct. The vigils began in the Main Bedroom where Gordon connected with a girl called Eleanor, while when asking out for a sound as a sign of presence, a distinct response could be heard. Meanwhile Karl and Stuart investigated the stairwell and Room 10 where Karl felt that he witnessed a shadow moving across the room, while a single light anomaly was captured on film. Karl again felt that a shadow had passed in front of the camera, and review of the footage appeared to show something had indeed been caught, although it was difficult to confirm that it was in any way paranormal. The following vigils remained generally uneventful, so the team congregated once more on Room 10 to conduct a séance together with a white-noise experiment using a radio on an unused frequency. Some anomalous noises were captured coming from the radio, although nothing conclusive, and the time regrouped to conduct a final séance in the Dining Room. During this gathering David appeared to sense a presence close by, and he began to react emotionally to the experience, suggesting that an entity had momentarily possessed him.
