Tatton Mansion  TATTON, CHESHIRE
Series 9 Episode 11
First Aired: March 13th 2007
Location Background

The Mansion of Tatton Park is a neo-classical building designed by Samuel Wyatt for William Egerton and the Egerton family in 1791. After Samuel's death, it was completed by his nephew Lewis Wyatt in the early 19th century. This grand stately home was filled with the finest furnishings, much of it specially designed for the house, and luxurious tapestries and trappings, plus many fine paintings. Many distinguished guests stayed at the mansion, including their Royal Highnesses, the Prince and Princess of Wales in 1887, the Shah of Persia and the Crown Prince of Siam in the following decade.

Brief Episode Synopsis

David's walk around begins with him connecting with the name Elizabeth, who he correctly identifies from the many portraits on the wall. Moving onto the Library David senses that poltergeist activity takes place here, specifically that the chairs could move of their own accord. He believes this activity is linked to a man named William. In the Lemon Bedroom David connects with a lady named Anna, after which he suggests that something has touched or pulled on his ear. While on the landing the team suggest that they can hear tapping, although again nothing conclusive is picked up on sound. The vigils begin and Ciaran, Ian and Geoff apparently hear noises resembling animals in the scullery, and this encourages the rest of the team to join them. Activity then appears to pick up as ladles which are hanging up apparently start swinging of their own accord while Karl feels that something has blown in his ear. Then (off-camera) a cupboard door is suggested to have opened by itself, but as this is not captured on film there is little evidence that it is indeed paranormal. At this point a spoon appears to be thrown, but as is often the case it is not captured from it's point of origin to the place where it landed, so it is treated with an element of scepticism.
