| Location Background | |
The Peasant Fortress of Rasnov is a 13th century fortified village, is located in the Tara Barsei region of Transylvania. During the many fights for supremacy over Transylvania, between the Turkish and Austrian Empires, the fortress from Rasnov became for a long time a refuge place. In order to repress the anti-Austrian uprising lead by Moise Secuiul, the Tara Romaneasca's army crossed the mountains through the Bran Pass and set up camp between Rasnov and Cristian on 5th of June 1603. The first battle took place near Cristian and the final one which included Radu Serban, the Prince of Muntenia, took place on 16th of July 1603 near the paper mill of Brasov. The Bathory's army besieged the Rasnov Fortress in March 1612 and conquered it in April - the fortress ocupants were forced to surrender after the road to their secret source of the water was discovered. After this Gabriel Bathory settled a garrison into the Citadel, the inhabitants of Rasnov tried unsuccessfully to conquer the Citadel with help from Brasov, but eventually made a peace with Bathory paying him a ransom of 3000 florins. The Citadel was again inhabited for a long time due to the Turkish-Tartar armies attacking in 1658, who burned and plundered many settlements but did not succeed in penetrating the Citadel. |

| Brief Episode Synopsis | |
On the back of the recent Most Haunted Live from Transylvania the crew take us on a 2 part adventure to investigate a citadel deep in the Carpathian Mountains. David Wells begins with his usual walk around, and he reveals an image of a man in tattered clothing running towards him from the 1600's. He also connects with a female energy from the same time period, while in the Gallery Museum he senses a stale smell of some kind. Stuart suggests he has seen 2 shadowy figures in the corridor, while the crew hear the typical knocks and tapping sounds so prevalent on their recent investigations. As the team move to night vision David links in with the female energy again, suggesting she is 'coming up from the floor', while the banging sounds appear to continue. Karl then believes that the pictures on the wall are moving, although none of this is captured on film. David reveals that the woman would have been buried below them, and feels that a skeleton will be present, which is correct as the team move down to view the skeletal remains on show. Some anomalous noises are heard by the crew at this point after which they split into smaller groups. Cath and Ciaran remain in the room with the skeleton, where Cath suggests being poked and hearing some unsubstantiated dragging noises. Karl then undertakes a solo vigil with the skeleton while Stuart investigates the viewing gallery alone. Stuart hears a groaning sound, but nothing more, while Karl undergoes some self-induced fear and trepidation while alone with the skeleton. |
