Boys Hall
ASHFORD, KENT Series 9 Episode 2 First Aired: January 9th 2007 |
|
| Location Background | |
Boys Hall was originally built by the Boys (previously De Bois) family in 1616. Bricks and timber from a nearby roundel house called Sevington extended the property in the mid 1600s and further additions to the house were made during the Victorian era. The original family occupied this magnifiocent hall for many years. They were known as farmers and local gentry, but were also suspected of being involved with smuggling. The Hall though imposing today must have been an incredible sight in the 1600's probably a modern beast by standards then. With 10 rooms and 6 reception rooms and a recent sale price of £1,250,000, this amazing structure must have been stunning in the 1600s and with recent renovations restoring it to its former glory after a period of neglet, it still dazzles today. The hall is thought to be one of the most haunted buildings in England. People have been pushed or prodded by unseen hands and pictures have refused to stay on the wall in certain parts of the house. A young Irishman was supposedly killed in a duel in the Hall's grounds after a scandal involving an English officer's wife. Years later a woman's skeleton, dressed in the Irishman's clothes, was found buried under the floor. Since then, a woman's spirit has been spotted in various parts of the Hall. |

| Brief Episode Synopsis | |
The initial walk around with David reveals some bizarre references to his visions of people kissing skeletons and spirits that are apparently scared of each other. He also links in with children and an active female energy in the property. The vigils begin the stables where it appears that an object is thrown at the crew, which appears on the thermal imager as being hot. The crew then conduct a séance where apart from the sensation of a breeze across Yvette's hands nothing of significance takes place. Exploring the house a few anomalous sounds like scratching are heard, and just as the crew are moving to the Dining Room an object revealed to be a pine cone is thrown off camera. Shortly after this a James I Mint coin is apparently thrown, which coincidentally comes from the era of the building. Yvette then proceeds to tap out some rhythmic knocks on the floor in the hope of getting similar responses from sprit, which in some part they appear to receive. The investigation concludes with a return to the stables where David becomes a little uneasy and concerned with the supposed spirits in the vicinity. A light anomaly of some sort is captured on film, while Cath suggests she has been prodded. As they are leaving the stables a gate which has been propped up appears to fall down of its own accord, although as is typically the case nothing conclusive is captured on camera. |
