Dudley Castle
DUDLEY, WEST MIDLANDS Most Haunted Live Episode 1 First Aired: October 31st 2002 |
Halloween 2002
|
| Location Background | |
Dudley Castle stands on a limestone hill overlooking the town of Dudley. The Castle is now a ruin, a result mainly of the Civil War. For many years the Castle has stood with pride and invulnerability, home to numerous Lords and visited by royalty throughout the last millennium. It has stood the test of time both environmentally and during war time, never falling into enemy hands. The rich history of the castle ensures that it has plenty of paranmoral activity associated with it. |

| Brief Episode Synopsis | |
The investigation began in the Undercroft where Derek picked up on the energies of a man with an axe, suggesting he would have helped mine the caverns and had died along with a number of other workmen in a rock fall. Yvette also feels an icy cold breeze at this point, while Derek names the man as Henry. He then connects with a Lady Jane, believing her to have been beheaded in the mid 1500's. Moving on to the Castle Steps Derek senses the presence of a distraught elderly man, Richard Sutton, who is pointing upwards to a nearby tower. Derek then relives the man's torment, as his wife Margaret is thrown to her death by five young men who believed her to be a witch (verified). He then picks up on a woman called Dorothy Beaumont who is believed to be the Grey Lady, suggesting that not only does she walk the steps but also oversees the whole castle. Derek then connects with the energy of a hooded man who at this time conceals himself. At this point Yvette conducts a solo vigil in the Singing Cavern, where she survives only a matter of minutes before being startled by the movement of rats. The team then move to the kitchen where earlier, while it had been cordoned off, a locked off camera had picked up a strange moving shadow projected on the wall. Both Yvette and Rick begin to feel sick, while guest investigator David Scanlan notices that the batteries on the EMF meter have drained shortly after picking up a minor fluctuation. Derek begins to pick up on the energies of a young woman, however at this point the hooded man reappears. Derek now feels he was a monk called Hal who was a devious character. The investigation then proceeds to the Shop where strangely the EMF meter again drains after a slight reading. Derek senses the outline of a small lady who he feels dresses up for her own amusement, and who is apparently responsible for the activity there. At this point Yvette feels she has seen a shape moving along one of the nearby aisles and a number of odd noises are picked up. Derek feels this is the lady who he names as Alice. He suggests that she is happy that everyone knows she had won a competition, while Richard reveals the story of a recent medieval costume competition where a woman matching her description apparently won the contest but mysteriously vanished before receiving her prize, suggesting to many that it was a ghost. The investigation concludes back in the Undercroft where Derek picks up on the name John Somerby connected to the sarcophagus, while the team notice another cold spot in the centre of the room. |
