Wakefield’s eclectic mix of rundown mills and forsaken coal mines are reputedly an active source of paranormal phenomena. Stories say that since the
decline of many local industries, some shadows of the past simply refuse to down tools and leave. Locations supposedly rife with paranormal activity
include a textile mill dating back to the 1800's, a stunning and majestic playhouse and a disused coal mine with many strange stories and tales of
ghostly miners.

NIGHT 1
of the investigation began in the cellars of Rutland Mills. Derek connected with the spirit of a young boy named
Jim, who he felt died in an industrial accident. The team moved onto a room which has apparently remained unopened
for years. Here Derek suggested a man may have fallen to his death from an large opening in the side of the room.
The team then conducted a ouija board experiment which brought little activity however during a later attempt the
glass began to move quite violently as Derek suggested a connection with Jim and another male who had died in a
similar accident. After questioning it was established that both spirits wanted help to pass over, and Derek
obliged. Meanwhile in the room above, the team experienced activity as Yvette heard a sigh while an object appeared
to be thrown.
NIGHT 2
took the team to the Theatre Royal and Opera House in Wakefield. The night commenced in the main auditorium with the team experiencing strange
knocks, shadows and lights. Moving up to the stage they attempted a table tipping experiment where the table rocked, while of greater interest was a loud
knock appearing to come from the centre of the table. Yvette then embarked upon a solo vigil in the auditorium, asking out with increasing trepidation for
some spirit to make their presence known. She sufferred significant psychological phenomenon, at one point mistaking her shadow for something more
sinister, however on a number of occasions strange sounds similar to breathing were clearly audible. At the end of the vigil however a loud menacing groan
is heard, the source of which was unknown. Later in the night during a seance Karl believes he has heard someone saying 'James doesn't like it!' while under
the Stage Yvette and the team hear noises from above. The night concludes with a seance, with Cath sensing a presence around her while the Thermal
Imager shows her hands are much colder than the rest of the team.
NIGHT 3
to the team to Caphouse Colliery. Derek initially came up with a few names which were unable to be confirmed, while the team then conducted a new
harmonic resonance experiment in an attempt to raise activity. Karl and Stuart then undertook a small séance together which culminated with both parties
feeling drained and disorientated and Stuart appearing to collapse slowly on the floor. Taking the descent underground the activity for the night took a
major turn. Initially Derek was sent stumbling off down one of the shafts suggesting he was being dragged by an eager spirit, while off camera Stuart suggested
that something had knocked his hat off. This was followed by Karl burrowing into one of the more inaccessible areas for a short solo vigil, only to return
in a state of high emotion, unwilling to describe the reasons for this change. The next incident involve Jon Gilbert suggesting a piece of coal had struck him,
although again nothing conclusive was captured on film. Another similar incident involved Cath, who also appear to be struck by an object along one of the
tunnels, after which confusion reigned.
