| Brief Episode Synopsis | |
The investigation begins with the introduction of Derek to the audience where he is immediately interrupted by a spirit presence, suggesting an intriguing night ahead. Beginning in the Opium Den Derek connects with both a male and female presence, suggesting both had drowned on the upper floor in similar circumstances. This is verified by Richard Felix who understands that a man and a woman lost their lives in a water tank which was often used as a swimming pool at the top of the building. Derek links the name Edward Larkin with the man, believing that he would have worked in the basement of the hotel, while the woman links with the name Catherine, and she would have been a maid. Moving on to the basement, joined by celebrity guest Melinda Messenger, the team experience chills and blasts of cold air. Derek links in with the residual energy suggesting that the hotel would have been built on a burial ground, where many bodies would have been unearthed, some of which may still remain under the building. He also senses the marching of Roman soldiers and also the sensation of people guarding something valuable (the basement was once used by the Bank of England). Ciaran then conducts a White Noise experiment using a de-tuned radio, although there are no obvious signs of EVP on the playback. The team then move to the notorious Room 10 where Phil initially gets a reading from the EMF when entering through the doorway. Derek senses that a young man would have died here, possibly of a heart attack, while he also believed that there is a secret surrounding his death. He suggested this man was the son of the architect George Gilbert Scott. The team then move on to investigate the stairwell, where Derek senses that a young pregnant woman would have thrown herself from the 4th floor to her death, believing her to have been jilted by the father of the baby. He feels she connects with the name Elizabeth and that she would have been 19 years old. At this point guest mediums Colin Fry and Tony Stockwell join the investigation as the team return to Room 10. Colin suggests a connected with a young coloured boy who he felt knew 2 secrets - one about the death of the man in this room and another about the pregnant lady who committed suicide. Tony then links in with the name Archie, a close love of the victim, also suggesting that this man would have been chased into the room and confronted by 2 men. Derek then feels that the name 'Herbert the Hangman' was relevant, and maybe linked with one of these 2 men. Colin Fry then connects with the nickname 'Scally', possibly relating him to the other man who had chased the victim in to the room after which he had been 'throttled' and left to die alone. |
